Doi status types

The ECRIN MDR schema (following DataCite) uses a DOI as the main identifier for data objects, but not all data objects in the system have a doi assigned. The DOI status field is an internal field, i.e. not for export, that indicates if a DOI is in the system, or if it does not exist whether or not a doi might be found from elsewhere or even created in the future. It is included as a guide to possible further actions in seeking or assigning DOIs. The field can take the values listed below.
id | name | description | source |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Exists in MDR system | This value should be accompanied by a valid DOI in the data object record. | ECRIN |
3 | Exists but not yet in MDR system | There is good evidence that a DOI exists but has yet to be captured. | ECRIN |
5 | Does not yet exist but is expected | Reasonable to expect that a DOI will be minted in the future. | ECRIN |
9 | Does not exist, not currently expected | No indication exists that a DOI will be minted for this object. | ECRIN |
0 | Not yet known | Dummy value supplied by default on entity creation. | ECRIN |
The value of the field is likely to be dependent on the presence of a DOI in the source data, and in the absence of a DOI on the data object type or source institution.
