Dataset consent types

It indicates the type of consent for re-use and sharing associated with the data. This has nothing to do with the consent for the original study, or the processing and use of the data in that study – it is only concerned with the consent given – if any – for the secondary use of the data generated by the study. It is included to clarify possible legal restrictions on the data.

1 No explicit consent No specific consent was given for the sharing of data or its re-use beyond the study in which it was originally collected. ECRIN
2 Partial re-use Consent was given explicitly, for sharing and re-use of the data, for specified purposes or work in a specified domain, e.g. ‘in cancer research’, or ‘for research into malaria’, or research within a named institution, country etc. ECRIN
3 Full re-use for research Broad consent was given explicitly, for sharing and re-use of the data for research purposes. ECRIN
9 Comment on consent present Indicators or comment on consent present but not classifiable as partial or full. Details field should be used for the comment. ECRIN
